VMF2020: Gastown

A vibrant, stylish neighbourhood blending heritage architecture with the latest designs. Gastown offers a diverse mix of retail and dining alongside a vibrant creative and tech scene. It received murals from two artists for this year’s festival; resulting in the transformation of an entire alleyway and bringing pops of modern design and colour to the historical neighbourhood.

This December, Gastown will also be a part of some unique Augmented Reality art installations! Stay tuned for more details.

“Bloom Inward II”

160 W Cordova Street

Sponsored by Lululemon

Mural Statement:

"In looking inward, there is growth that comes through close examination of the avoided thoughts and aspects within a mental space.

'Bloom Inward II' is the extension of 'Bloom Inward', the four-panel mural on a boarded-up business downtown, as part of #MakeArtWhileApart at the beginning of the pandemic period in April 2020.

In a broader realm, it's a reminder to myself and to all of the resilience of self, and the value of isolation at times.”

A series of seven dumpsters painted with different scenes pertaining to environmental awareness.
