  • VCH is seeking First Nations artist(s) from Musqueam, Sḵwxw̱ ú7mesh Úxwumixw or Tsleil-Waututh Nation to design artwork for wall murals as well as an interactive art installation for a children’s sensory wall at Sheway.

    Sheway's program model recognizes the health of women and their children is linked to the conditions of their lives and their ability to influence these conditions. Services at Sheway are provided in response to the needs of pregnant and parenting women.

  • VCH is seeking an artist from one of the Host Nations (Musqueam, Squamish or Tsleil–Waututh) to design two interior wall murals. The value of the contract is $6000. While complementary in look and feel and both rooted in the theme of connection, each wall mural will have its own unique themes.

    Wall mural one will honour the Coast Salish Host Nations on whose land on which the health clinic is situated. The selected artist will be asked to develop a concept that reflects the connection of the Host Nations to the land, to other cultures, to each other, and to their own health and wellness.

    Wall mural two will reflect themes that emerged from engagement with the local South Vancouver community.

    The artists will be selected by a panel including representatives of the Host Nations and from VCH.

  • VCH is seeking an artist from Musqueam Nation to design a wall mural and related Coast Salish designs/motifs that can be reproduced as printed vinyl applications throughout the facility. The value of the contract is $6,000. The artist is not required to paint the wall mural. However, if the artist has experience painting wall murals and wishes to do so, VMF may at their discretion negotiate additional terms, including the painting of the wall mural, and additional compensation.

    We will be asking the selected artist to reflect the following themes in the wall mural and related Coast Salish designs/motifs. The general theme is the story of the land before concrete, which was developed in consultation with local Indigenous knowledge keepers. This includes:

    Giants (trees)

    Water

    River

    Bulrushes

    Bridgeshere

    The artist will be selected by a panel including representatives from VCH. Representatives from Musqueam Nation will also be invited to participate on the evaluation panel. Emerging artists are strongly encouraged to apply.
