VMF Winter Arts: CALL FOR 3D/AR ARTISTS (CLOSED)

Over the past 5 years, VMF has produced over 250 murals in Vancouver and surrounding areas. This winter we're launching a new initiative to celebrate cutting-edge creativity in our colder months. We'll be selecting 20-50 artists whose artworks will be showcased in Augmented Reality in locations around Vancouver's Downtown core during the month of February.
Now, more than ever, our shared public spaces play a key role in our recovery process. Art can help transform public spaces and offer safe opportunities for us to come together.
Please note that VMF will be posting a separate call for 2021 Mural Artists in January. Applicants to this AR program will only be considered for digital artworks at our February event.
Please note: This application will only be open until November 15th, 2020. You will be able to edit the application after you submit it up until that date.
A couple of things before you get started:
1. This is a pretty simple application form. We do not ask artists to create work for submission, just web-links to existing work. This is why it's really important that your Instagram or other online portfolio is stacked with recent samples of your work.
2. AR experience isn't required, but you (or a collaborator / team member) will need the skills to model, texture and optionally animate your 3D models. We will work with you to implement your projects into AR. Final 3D artworks will need to be light and efficient. There is a limit of 150K triangles for geometry and the entire work including textures needs to be under 4MB after compression.
3. Small teams are acceptable as applicants. If you are applying as a team please list your primary contact in this form and describe your team members and skillsets.
4. If you are a technically competent and open to teaming up with a traditional artist please apply and indicate this. Vice versa, if you are a traditional artist with a concept for AR you may team up with someone to implement your idea. We can't guarantee that there will be someone for you to team up with so do your own matchmaking if possible.
5. We expect a lot of applications. We thank you in advance for your submission, because we will not be able to respond to everyone who has applied. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted between Nov 15 - Dec 1, 2020.
6. You will get an email to confirm the submission of your application. If that doesn't come through, check your spam, and please submit again. You can always edit your submission after hitting send.
7. All artists will be compensated for their work if selected to be exhibited in the VMF Winter Arts festival.
8. AR workshop + Q&A hosted by VMF partners, Shape Immersive Shape Immersive (November 6th, 2-4pm, more details TBD)
