VANCOUVER MURAL FESTIVAL RETURNS AUGUST 1-10 WITH 25 NEW MURALS AND AN EXPANDED 10 DAY PROGRAM OF EVENTS CELEBRATING PUBLIC ART AND COMMUNITY!
June 13, 2019 (Vancouver, BC) - Create Vancouver Society with support from Canadian Heritage, the Province of British Columbia and Mount Pleasant BIA, proudly announces the 4th Annual Vancouver Mural Festival. Following the success of last year’s celebrations (drawing crowds of 120,000+ to the streets of Mount Pleasant), the Vancouver Mural Festival returns with expanded programming featuring 10 days of events including a Gallery Show, Flash Tattoo, Mural Tours, Public Talks, Parties and much more… culminating in the much loved Mount Pleasant Street Party on Saturday, August 10 from 12-7pm.
Spanning over 14 city blocks, the Saturday street party transforms the neighbourhood into a dynamic, living art space connecting communities across the Lower Mainland and beyond. Free, family-friendly, and full of activities for everyone, the celebration features the highly-anticipated debut of 25+ new murals (on top of the area’s 120+ murals from past years), 4 beer gardens, 2 live music stages, 2 markets, extensive food trucks, live art, DJ/dance battles, a new Family Zone and much more.
Speaking to his passion for the Vancouver Mural Festival, Co-founder and Executive Director David Vertesi says, “The incredible growth of VMF over the last four years is a testament to the power of public art to not only brighten up our neighbourhoods but also to connect people, places, stories, and ideas. Whether spotlighting important social issues or simply putting smiles on people’s faces, we’re excited to support a diverse range of artistic visions in public space with another year of Vancouver Mural Festival.”
