Alright folks, time to put on your rainboots/raincoat and grab a coffee… it’s mural hunting time!
Time spent at home is increasing again (and so are the cabin fever feels!) as our social bubbles tighten for the winter months and indoor public spaces are being avoided. Taking a self guided mural tour is the perfect way to get out of the house and enjoy a Covid-safe, social distanced activity with your 'household'. The Vancouver Mural Festival App is available to download FREE from the App Store and Google Play!
To mark our 5th year, we released this brand new Mobile App to help people find, explore and learn more about the 60 new murals (plus nearly 200 murals since 2016). The VMF App features mural and artist details, interactive map with filters, curated Collections and more. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly day out, want to learn more about Indigenous art, or want to find the city’s biggest murals to show off on Instagram, the App’s curated Collections are designed to guide you through your experience.
To help you get excited about exploring Vancouver’s murals we’ve put together a few of our favourite features of our Mobile App!
The Interactive Map - holy cow is this amazing for finding murals while you’re already en route or just happen to be in an area and want to see what’s nearby! Simply click the MURALS tab, then find the MAP icon on the top of the screen and start exploring. Zoom in, zoom out, click a location and see what mural lies there! Looking for murals in a specific style, location, or year? Click FILTER on the top left corner and narrow your search to find exactly what you’re looking for!
The ‘Favourites’ Feature - When you ‘Favourite’ murals by clicking the heart on the top right corner it will create a folder that you can revisit later when you have time to go check them out! Once your list is created, you can click the MAP view within your FAVOURITES and see all the locations show up on a map to plan your route.
Collections - we LOVE this feature of the App found at the bottom right corner. Not only does it allow for us to create fun routes for special interests, it also inspires exploring different neighbourhoods in the city! Find collections that include Family Fun Mural Walks, Massive Murals, Indigenous Art, First Time Muralists, and routes along Breweries and Cafes for you to visit. The Artists Page - never before have we been able to provide so much information on the artists in one single spot! Search for an artist you know or scroll to click through and get to know them! Read their bios, find their Instagram and websites linked, and be directed right to their mural(s).
