Leave work early and start your weekend with an open air disco on The Cobalt's freshly painted patio from 4pm. Join us as we bask in the sunshine, surrounded by vibrant queer energy and dazzling disco from Aran Mo, Madam Lola and Sam Steele. Come hungry, we will have a food truck on site.

As the sun sets, we'll transition inside for an unforgettable Drag & Burlesque show curated by the one and only Toddy featuring Peaches and Screams, Venus Kunt, Gushy, and Maverick.

Once the Drag show concludes, it's time to hit the dance floor, rave-ready for some house and techno provided by b.note, DR BPM and Colby B, gracing us with their presence all the way from NYC

They will run interference if someone is receiving unwanted attention, can help folks in need to find a way home, and generally serve as go-to support people should any problems arise.

  • Public Disco events aim to be a safe space for people of all genders, ethnicities, abilities and sexual orientations to come together and enjoy music side by side. • The Cobalt is a live music and performance venue under queer ownership on Main Street with indoor and outdoor space we will be activating. Bathrooms are gender neutral.

We acknowledge that this event takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples – the sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. We ask that you take a moment to consider the history of the land that we gather on, your relations with local Indigenous people and what each of us can do to foster meaningful reconciliation now and into the future.

  • Public Disco celebrates the vibrant, inclusive, and diverse history of dance music. Black, Queer, and Trans communities in Chicago and New York pioneered this culture, while it emerged locally in alternative art spaces and gay clubs like Graceland, Gandydancer, Faces, and the Odyssey. Dance music culture has always valued acceptance and celebrated diversity through music, with artists like Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan leading the way. We invite you to recognize and honor this history, involve marginalized communities in this culture, and celebrate their contributions to what makes dance music so special.
