VMF Artist Applications Open Feb 1st to Feb 28th, 2019!

APPLY HERE.

Hey, its that time again. Artist submissions for Vancouver Mural Festival 2019 will be open on our website for the month of February. More than 700 local, Canadian, and international applications were received last year with final selections being made by a group of 4 curators. This year, just over 25 official muralists will be chosen to participate. This means competition will be tough, however, we encourage you to apply as we select 85% local artists and always aim to bring together a wide variety of backgrounds, styles, and experience levels to make up our final list.

Over our first 3 years, previously selected artists have drawn from many mediums including muralism, graffiti, fine art, street art, tattoo, animation, design, sign painting, as well as traditional Indigenous art forms like carving, weaving, and metal-work.

“We’ve always felt that the strength of what we create comes from the diversity of stories being told.” says Executive Director, David Vertesi. “We’ve been proud to host a roster each year that includes representation of female and non-binary artists as well as a variety of cultural backgrounds including Indigenous artists from Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations and others.”

If you are not selected for the Mount Pleasant Festival program, there are other opportunities to produce murals with us throughout the year on other projects we undertake. So make sure to apply so we know you are interested!

Vancouver Mural Festival takes place August 5th - 10th, 2019 and includes live painting, evening events, public talks and of course the massive Mount Pleasant Street Party which this year expects more than 140,000 people for its’ exciting mix of art, music, markets, craft beer and much more.
