In advance of the Strathcona Street Party this Saturday 12-8pm @ Campbell and Hastings Street, youth at Raycam have been collaborating with the amazing text artist, Ben Johnston, to produce an inspiring new mural that says in 20 foot high letters, "TOGETHER."

Two weeks ago, Savanah Erasmus and Adrian Sinclair from The Vancouver Mural Festival and Jodi Gibson, the Youth Programmer at Raycam, gave the youth from all the after-school programs at the centre the chance to shape the message in Ben Johnston's mural.

The youth were asked: What inspires you? What Makes you Smile? The answers were sweet, funny, and even practical. The theme that stood out from the answers was the importance of friends, family, brothers, sisters, moms and dads! Almost everything that inspired the youth was about feeling connected and supported. What makes them smile? Togetherness!

Raycam is a pretty incredible community hub. They like to say, that they are not a Community Centre, but rather Raycam is "The Centre of The Community."

Come out this Saturday to learn about the RENEW RAYCAM Campaign! Stop by their booth where you can learn about their plans for a renewed community centre and 200 units of housing! More Info on the event here. Check out a SNEAK PEAK VIDEO CLIP of the mural in process here.

Ben Johnston's Mural funded by Low Tide Properties.
