The Buddy System is a grassroots effort to combat rape culture, provide harm reduction, and enhance the safety of dance parties and events. Buddies will be wearing neon shirts and are NARCAN trained. They are carrying sealed water bottles, condoms, lube, granola bars, tampons, and more. They will run interference if someone is receiving unwanted attention, can help folks in need to find a way home, and generally serve as go-to support people should any problems arise.

The Birdhouse is a live music and performance venue under queer and trans ownership in Mount Pleasant. This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ safe space. Please be extra mindful and respectful of the energy and attitude you bring in to this space, especially as non-queer folks and allies. Washrooms are gender neutral.
We acknowledge that this event takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples – the sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. We ask that you take a moment to consider the history of the land that we gather on, your relations with local Indigenous people and what each of us can do to foster meaningful reconciliation now and into the future.
